How long have you been at St. John School?

I am beginning my 38th year of teaching at St John’s

What grade/subject are you teaching? Staff - where will you be working?

First Grade

How long have you been teaching and/or when did you start teaching? If Staff - including St. Johns time, how long have you been doing the same type of job?

I have been teaching 45 years! I began teaching in 1976 as a Pre-School/Director in Omaha. Then, I was a stay at home mom for five years. After that, I got back into teaching as a substitute for two years, and then, started teaching Kindergarten, & First Grade here at St. John’s.

What are a couple unique qualities/skills about you?

I have been to Hawaii, England, Scotland, Japan, and the Bahamas!  

What are some personal items the families might like to know?

I am a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Specialization in Early Childhood. I have two grown kids and two grandkids!

Who is your favorite Saint and why?

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton-She led an inspirational life of devotion to family and community. She had a lifelong spiritual journey of service to others.

What is your favorite Bible or Saint quote?

Isaiah 41:10 – “Do not be afraid, for I am with you always.”

What is your favorite prayer and why?

The Guardian Angel Prayer - I love this prayer because it is such a great reminder that our guardian angel is always with us physically and spiritually.

Why did you choose to teach at a Catholic school? Or why did you choose to teach at St. John’s?

St. John’s was one of first schools that I subbed at when moving back to Lincoln. Even as a sub I felt the closeness and support of the staff, parents and parish.  St. John’s School is like family!

Anything else you want to add?

I am so blessed to be part of the St. John’s family. I am excited to be your child's first grade teacher this year!
