Mrs. Robyn Furasek
How would you like the students to address you?
Señora
How long have you been at St. John School?
This will be my 10th year at St. John’s and my 17th year teaching!
What grade/subject are you teaching? Staff - where will you be working?
I teach Spanish to all students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
This year ('23-'24) I am also starting as Campus Minister to coordinate how we incorporate our Catholic faith into the school! Please contact me with ideas, suggestions, and donations for activities like student retreats, Junior High Discipleship, faculty days of recollection, server recognition, Sacrament preparation, and more.
How long have you been teaching and/or when did you start teaching? If Staff - including St. Johns's time, how long have you been doing the same type of job?
This is my 15th year as a Spanish teacher. I started with high school students, moved on to college seminarians, and landed here with elementary and junior high which is my favorite!
What are a couple of unique qualities/skills about you?
I love to do charcoal drawings, play guitar and sing, read historical fiction, play board games, and experience other cultures.
What are some personal items the families might like to know?
My husband Darren and I have been at St. John’s for all 22 years we have been married. We have five children at home and I am blessed to get to teach some of them here!
Who is your favorite Saint and why?
My favorite saints are Mother Teresa of Calcutta for the incredible generous love she showed to those God placed in her life, and St. John Paul II for his enthusiastic sharing of Jesus and because I was able to meet him!
What is your favorite Bible or Saint quote?
“Do small things with great love!” - St. Teresa of Calcutta
What is your favorite prayer and why?
My favorite prayer is simply, "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph make us a holy family."
Why did you choose to teach at a Catholic school? Or why did you choose to teach at St. John’s?
I love teaching at St. John’s because we can openly and directly lead children to the heart of Jesus through our everyday interactions. I also lead Little Flowers Girls Club which is an incredible gift to me to see girls and their mothers growing closer to Jesus together through prayer and service. This is the place to be!
Anything else you want to add?
A few of my favorite surprises are chocolate desserts, hot chai latte, fun socks, or anything from a Spanish-speaking country.
